Maricopa Integrated Health System is Arizona’s only public teaching hospital and healthcare system, proudly serving the residents of Maricopa County for more than 140 years. MIHS includes Arizona’s only Burn Center; the only Trauma Center in Arizona verified by the American College of Surgeons to provide both adult and pediatric care; and 13 Family Health Centers spread across Maricopa County that provide more than 400,000 adult and pediatric visits annually. MIHS’s two behavioral health centers treat more than 3,600 patients needing acute psychiatric care and provide over 5,000 hours of outpatient counseling at little or no cost every year. MIHS also is one of Arizona’s oldest and longest running physician training centers, with more than 400 physicians training in 12 Graduate Medical Education programs annually. We are proud of the reputation and relationships we have established in the community and are committed to continuing to build upon our rich tradition of quality health care, compassion and stewardship.
Steve Purves became President and Chief Executive Officer of MIHS in September 2013. Mr. Purves works with the publicly elected five-member Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors, who plan, direct, and manage the current operations, future growth and program development for MIHS. Mr. Purves is involved in the community as an ambassador for MIHS and in a variety of roles outside of his health care duties. He serves on the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) Board, Maricopa Health Foundation Board, Arizona Chamber of Commerce Board, Arizona State University Health Advisory Board, and Valley of the Sun United Way. Mr. Purves also is a member of Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL). Prior to joining MIHS, Mr. Purves served seven years as President and CEO of Munroe Regional Health System, Inc., a public, not-for-profit healthcare system serving Marion County and North Central Florida.
